Abstract

206,118. Donkervoort, M., Voorden, J. L. van der, and Donkervoort, A. Oct. 27, 1922, [Convention date]. Deodorizing air and gases.-Fumes from the treatment of animal products such as bones are deodorized by passage through a chimney or other conduit containing one or more grids or networks formed of helically wound wires heated to in. candescence by elec. tricity or by gas flames. In the form shown, a ventilating chimney 2, through which the fumes are forced by an electric fan 4, is fitted with two horizontal wire nets 6 attached to the walls of the chimney by insulators 7 and heated by the passage of an electric current. The wires are helically wound to give an increased surface of contact with the gases. The nets may be in the form of grids or of other construction, and need not be horizontally arranged. The wires may be heated by gas flames from a burner of similar shape to the wire net. The chimneys or conduits may be arranged vertically or horizontally, with or without fans, and may be placed directly over the 'boilers or other source of the fumes, or may be placed in the roof of the boiler room, storage shed &c. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) refers also to the use of wires arranged in the form of a flat spiral and not helically wound. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
