Abstract
205,900. Bull, A. J. July 27, 1922. Colorimeters.-The proportional composition of any given colour is determined in terms of standard colours by means of apparatus in which the rays from a source of light A are passed through a collimating lens B to apertures C in a frame D, the apertures C carrying the standard colours. The light then passes through a projection lens E through an opening F in a hollow white sphere G, preferably formed as a cavity in white plaster, wherein successive reflections result in a blending of the colours. The blended colour is viewed through the aperture H and compared with the colour of the article under test situated on the surface L. Adjustment of the apertures C is made under the colour match, the sizes of the apertures being a measure of the relative composition of the colour under investigation. The sizes of the apertures are adjusted by rack-and-pinion mechanism and scales are fitted for the direct reading of the size of the apertures.
