Abstract
439,276. Colorimeters. NAGEL, W., 26, Merianstrasse, Freiburg, Breisgau, Germany. April 23, 1935, No. 12227. Convention date, April 21, 1934. [Class 97 (i)] In apparatus for estimating the colour of a solution &c. by matching it with a comparison colour, the comparison colour is obtained by passing light through a polarizer and an analyzer between which is disposed a plate of doubly-refracting material which can be adjusted about an axis at right-angles to the light beam. Light from a single source is received by two mirrors h<1>, h<2>, and one of the reflected beams passes through a container d<2> for the test solution &c. The other beam passes through a polarizer a and a rotatable analyzer b, the plate c of quartz &c., being disposed between them and being angularly adjustable by means of a screw having a graduated head s<1>. The two beams are received by a prism e by which they are directed into a single eyepiece f.
