Abstract

205,850. Mauss, W. June 26, 1922. Density separators.-In density separators of the kind described in Specifications 164,418 and 182,856, the baffle rings 3 are arranged on the sides of the peaks between the chambers of the drum nearest the feed inlet 10, and the overflow lip b of the top drum section 1<a> is at a less radial distance from the axis of the machine than the peaks of the sections 1. The device for separating the sections to allow discharge of the solid matter consists of a cylinder to which the top section 1<a> is attached, and which is provided with a series of shoulders 8 adapted to raise the sections 1 successively away from each other and the fixed bottom section 2. The baffle rings 3 are secured to the sections by bolts 11 passing through bosses which leave passages 12 between the baffle rings and the sections. A separate baffle ring 1<b> may be attached to the cylinder below the top ring.
