Needles, pins, and the like, boxes specially adapted for; contents, delivering and facilitating access to.-A box for needles, pins, &c., comprises two relatively movable parts 1, 2 hinged together at 3 and normally held separated by a spring 4, the part 1 carrying a holder 8 for the articles 9 which. when the parts 1, 2 are moved together, are brought into contact with an abutment 16 on the part 2 and thereby caused to project through an opening 15 in the part 1 so that they may be readily grasped. The articles are carried in spirally-arranged apertures in flanges 7 on the holder which is journaled on a cylinder 6 eccentrically-pivoted on a screw 5 in the part 1, a journal 10 rotatably mounted in the cylinder being rigidly secured in the holder 8. A spiral spring 11 connected to the journal 10 and a pin 12 in the cylinder tends to rotate the holder and articles 9 clockwise and, at the same time, to turn the cylinder and holder about the screw 5, the outermost article in the holder being checked by a pawl 14 arranged beneath the opening 15; upon removal of an article through the opening 15, the spring 11 turns the holder, and the eccentric mounting of the cylinder 6 causes the articles to be brought successively in position against the pawl 14. In a modification, the movement of the parts 1, 2 together, actuates a lever pivoted on the pawl 14 so that a pin pivoted on the lever moves past a number of the articles and finally moves behind one; on the parts 1, 2 again moving apart the holder is moved, so that the next pin contacts with the pawl, by the pin on the lever pressing against the article it has moved behind, the lever being acted upon by a spring disposed between it and the pawl.
