Clearing - apparatus; tension - ar - rangements.- A device for clearing yarns comprises a member 5 having an outwardly and downwardly inclined slot 19, and a pivoted disc 23 having a graduated periphery 24 arranged along the said slot to form a yarn-clearing hole. To vary the size of the clearing-hole the disc 23 is rotated to bring different portions of its graduated periphery within the slot and it is then secured in position by a pin 27. The dise 23 is carried on a lever 20 pivoted at 21 and is maintained in its working position relative to the slot 19 by a spring 33. The disc may be raised bodily on the lever 20 to open the yarn-clearing hole. The walls of the slot 19 and the surface 24 may be arranged to give varicusly shaped yarn-clearing holes. A weighted tension-disc 10 is arranged on a pin 9 and is provided with a swinging guard 13 having a projecting portion 16.
