Brake mechanism.- In hand-operated front and rear wheel brakes of the type in which the link-work is enclosed in the frame tubes, the arms 1 of the two hand levers are connected respectively to coaxial rods 11, 3 in the head tube; the rod 11 is connected directly to the front brake, and the rod 3 is secured to a sliding block 9 attached by screws 8 passing through slots 21 to a. ring 7 sliding on the steering-stem 4. The ring 7 is acted upon by a retracting-spring 5, and engages the forked end of a bell-crank lever 6, which is connected by enclosed link-work 13 to the rear brake.
