Abstract

A panel has rubber seal(s) and is secured by bolts with pressure adjusters. The panel is secured to the doorframe and instep by bolts, through holes drilled in the doorframe. Pressure is applied to the seals by means of the pressure adjusters which tightens the panel against the doorframe and instep. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Flood prevention (anti-flood) panels Panels to fit against doorways including framework and an "Instep".
The panels have one or more protruding rubber seals, housed and running down both sides and across the bottom in one continuous length.
A number of threaded holes are provided to house the securing bolts.
Each bolt has a washer, a pressure adjuster and a securing handle, the bolts being tapered at the front for easier location of the panel.
When secured in position through holes drilled in the framework and instep the panels give maximum protection against flooding by means of the pressure adjusters.
The sole purpose of the instep is to provide a firm and smooth surface for the seals to press against.
It must be flush and in line with the outside of the doorframe and secured to the doorstep in such a way as to provide a watertight joint.
The panels may be moulded or pressed, with the seals secured by means of heat sealing or use of a water resistant bonding agent.
CLAIM (31 Mar 1979) in respect of: Flood prevention (anti-flood) panels, incorporating one or more protruding rubber seals, an instep and pressure adjusters.
CLAIMS (23 Jan 1980) 1. A rigid panel bearing a supple or flexible seal or seals, to fit against doorframes by which means floodwater is excluded from entering into houses, offices, stores and similar buildings, underneath or around doors by securing such panel to the doorframe and an instep, the panel being retained in position by nuts and bolts drilled through the doorframe and instep.
2. A panel as claimed in Claim 1, in which the seal or seals conform to the contours of the doorframe or part thereof.
3. A panel as claimed in Claims 1 and 2, in which pressure is applied to a seal or seals to exclude floodwater.
4. A panel as claimed in anyone of the preceding Claims, in which a seal or seals may be secured to the doorframc other than to the panel.
5. A panel as claimed in anyone of the preceding Claims, in which the sealing member is of a resilient nature.
6. A panel as claimed in anyone of the preceding Claims to which a seal or seals is secured.
7. An instep as claimed in anyone of the preceding Claims which serves as a watertight sealing joint, securing and pressure receiver.
8. A panel and instep to exclude floodwater from infiltrating below and around doors as defined in the preceding Claims and drawings supplied.
