204,198. Oldham & Son, Ltd., and Oldhani, J. Sept. i7, 1922. Cells for accumulators and other batteries are tapered or expanded upwardly and outwardly as shown. The upper end of the cell may be enlarged as shown at b. A cover d may be secured by a ring e which may be screwed into the cell or be provided with projections which engage with recesses, bayonet slots, or inclined surfaces formed in the cell, or the ring may be formed as a sectional wedge or split ring to engage with a recess or ridge on the cell. Concentric rings h may be provided on the bottom of the cell to support cylindrical electrodes and projections or recesses i may be provided on the cell to engage recesses or projections on a member secured within an outer box to contain the cell.
