Abstract

Polyester resin, additives and a light insulating filler e.g. of glass balls, is cast between, at least one reinforcing wall 1 of the panel e.g. of cellular concrete, which may be supported by a frame 2, and a removable shuttering wall 5. A wall panel may incorporate service ducts 4. A roof panel e.g. incorporating solar heating tubes may be cast between shuttering lined with e.g. glass fibres or metal gauze, which may be combined with a roof covering. The filler may also comprise shavings, straw, or expanded clay. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Process for the Production of Prefabricated Panels and the Panels Produced The present invention concerns the production of prefabricated panels for forming walls or roofs.
Prefabricated panels of cellular concrete are already known, which have a satisfactory level of mechanical strength, while being relatively light and while enjoying certain properties in respect of thermal and acoustic insulation.
The aim of the present invention is economically to produce panels which have thermal and acoustic insulation properties which are much better than those of the conventional panels of cellular concrete.
For this purpose, according to the invention, a mixture, hereinafter called special concrete, comprising polyester resin, additives and a filler of a light, insulating product, for example, glass balls, is cast between, on the one hand, a strengthening wall assembly such as a wall of cellular concrete or a roof covering assembly which is optionally strengthened with glass fibres, forming a shuttering wall which is optionally supported for example by a frame, and on the other hand, another recoverable shuttering wall.
The prefabricated panels which are produced in this way enjoy the remarkable thermal and acoustic insulation qualities of the special concrete referred to above, to which are added the qualities of mechanical strength and thermal and acoustic insulation of conventional cellular concrete.
In an advantageous mode of operation, sheaths or conduits which are embedded in the special cast concrete and which will serve as passages for receiving electric cables or gas or water lines for example are disposed against the inside face of the cellular concrete wall.
It is also advantageous for the abovementioned recoverable shuttering wall assembly to be first lined with an internal finishing coating which will form an integral part with the special cast concrete.
The present invention will be better appreciated from the following description and from study of the accompanying drawings which show by way of example two embodiments of prefabricated panels which are produced by carrying out the process according to the invention. In the drawings: Figure 1 is a sectional view of part of a panel which can be used for building a wall, and Figure 2 is also a sectional view of part of a panel which can be used for building a roof.
In order to produce the prefabricated panel shown in Figure 1, use is made of a strengthening wall assembly formed by a wall 1 of cellular concrete, which is supported for example by means of a frame 2 comprising shaped members.
The wall 1 may already be provided on its outside face with a covering layer 3, and, on its inside face, with sheaths or conduits 4 which are to act as passages for electric cables or water pipes which are to be installed in the future in the house which is built using such panels. A shuttering wall assembly 5 which is optionally provided with an internal finishing covering 6 is positioned at a certain distance from the inside face of the cellular concrete wall, e being a distance which depends on the thickness of the panel to be produced. This therefore provides a shuttering assembly wherein one wall is formed by the cellular concrete wall 1 and the other is formed by the wall member 5. The special concrete, comprising polyester resin, additives, such as hydrogen peroxide, water or an antimony compound, and a filler such as glass balls is cast in the shuttering assembly.Other fillers used may be for example shavings, straw or expanded clay or other light and insulating filler material. After the special concrete 7 has set, the shuttering wall assembly 5 is removed, thus providing a composite prefabricated panel formed by a wall of cellular concrete as at 1, which is covered with an external coating 3, and a wall 7 of special concrete, which is covered with a coating 6. The mechanical strength of this panel is provided in #particular by the cellular concrete, while the thermal and acoustic insulation are provided in particular by the special concrete.
In order to produce the prefabricated panel shown in Figure 2, which is intended to form a roof member, the same special concrete 7 as that defined hereinbefore for the production of a wall panel is cast in a shuttering assembly whose walls have each been lined with a layer of reinforcing material, for example of glass fibres 1 1 or metal gauze, so that the special concrete penetrates into the reinforcing material which thus gives the assembly of the panel, all the desired bending strength. The lower reinforcing material may moreover be combined with a covering 13 of the roof. The strengthening materials may also comprise tubes for passing therethrough various ducts, for example solar heating. The upper strengthening material is covered with a sealing film 14.
