Abstract

202,510. Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd., (Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Co.). Aug. 4, 1922. Cooling water by direct contact with cooling medium.-In a surface condenser of the type in which the water is re-cooled by air-currents passing over the surface of rotating discs dipping into the water, the discs 23 are mounted on a shaft 24 in bearings held by springs 30. Air is drawn over the discs by a fan 25 through openings 27. Baffles 31 may be arranged to prevent splashing- Specification 2927/86 is referred to.
