Abstract

Guards.-A guard for heel shaping-machines, adapted to be displaced by the work from its protective position, comprises a pair of cylinders a normally arranged to cover the right and left hand cutters rotating on vertical spindles, but not shown. The pivoted work-holder support C is provided with pieces h, which contact with plungers d when the support is rotated to present the work to each cutter in turn. The plungers are connected by links e to radial arms b supporting the guards a, so that the appropriate guard is automatically raised. A spring catch f carried on a cross frame g secures the guard clear of the cutters while adjustments are being made.
