Abstract

202,401. Hutton, H. W. May 18, 1922. Emulsions, making.-A water-soluble oil is composed of sulphonated castor oil, such as sulphonated. Turkey-red oil, a sulphonated fatty or fixed oil, and an unsulphonated oil, such as mineral oil. In an example, two parts of a sulphonated fatty oil together with an equal volume of salt water are treated with six parts of mineral oil. The mixture is agitated and the acidulated water withdrawn. Two parts of sulphonated Turkey-red oil are added, and the mixture is agitated and neutralized with caustic soda in aqueous solution until it is slightly alkaline and emulsifies completely with water.
