Abstract

A cardboard box consists of a cardboard blank comprising a plurality of wall panels (1), (2), etc., separated by fold lines and a plurality of superimposed sealing and closure flaps (6) - (9) separated by cuts parallel with said fold lines. At least one flap (7), (9) is provided at the areas of said cuts with lips (13) protruding from said flap, the cuts each comprising two parallel scribings extending only partially through the material of the cardboard blank so that the blank material is split to form said lip (13) between said scribings when the cardboard blank is erected to form a box. Said split lips (13) are pressed against the inner surfaces of the adjoining wall panels e.g. (1) to form a tight seal. <IMAGE>
