Abstract

A shaft drive element comprises a male coupling member 30 having a cross section defined by segments A, B of a logarithmic spiral joined end to end and a female coupling member 40 having a cross section defined by segments of the same spiral of greater radius joined end to end. One half of the segments may be of a clockwise spiral and one half of the segments of a counterclockwise spiral for both the male and the female coupling member. The male coupling member may be drivingly engaged with the inner quill shaft (3) of a pellet mill, the female coupling member being engaged with the outer quill shaft (2), the members cooperating to form a power transmitting drive between the quill shafts. <IMAGE>
