Abstract

The coupling assembly has two outer flexible couplings (8, 23) and a clutch (10) in between. Each flexible coupling (8, 23) allows an axial misalignment between its primary and secondary coupling parts (31 and 32, 35, 36 and 34, 20 respectively). The clutch (10) does not allow such flexibility between its primary and secondary clutch parts (12, 13, 33, 18p and 18s, 37, 19, 14, 17). The coupling assembly permits flexible connection for a small fitting length and can transmit large forces with low wear. <IMAGE>
