Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide bilateral radial thrust flexibility by serially keying a portion permitting axial movement and a portion imparted with flexibility by radial grooves provided in a cylindrical member.
CONSTITUTION: A convex coupling 3, which is secured to one end of a drive shaft 1, is keyed by a key 6 to a concave coupling. The concave coupling 7 is provided in its central portion with a number of grooves 11 extending in a direction at right angles to the axial direction. The other end of the concave coupling 7 is coupled to a driven shaft 2. The drive shaft 1 and driven shaft 2 can mutually cause flexing with a number of grooves 11. Both the concave and donvex couplings 3 and 7 are formed form cylindrical members, so that it is possible to provide excellent flexibility from low to high rpm ranges.
