Abstract

Certain nitrofuryl-vinylene- thiazole N-oxides having the formula <IMAGE> wherein R<1> and R<2> each independently represent hydrogen (C1-C4) alkyl or alkoxycarbonyl or R<1> and R<2> together with the carbon atoms to which they are bonded represent a cycloalkenyl group are provided for use in the treatment of cancer in mammals. These N-oxides may be administered in the form of a pharmaceutical composition containing a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient. The compounds are made by oxidation (hydrogen peroxide or peracetic acid) of corresponding nitrofuryl-vinylene-thiazoles.
