Abstract

A method of manufacturing a moulded article of fibrous material containing a metal insert arranged in the article with precision. In accordance with the invention the metal insert 10 is positioned in a frame, the frame is placed in a mould, the assembly is immersed in a suspension of fibres, the liquid medium in the suspension is filtered off to form a first layer of fibres on the insert 10, the frame is removed from the insert 10 and mould, the insert-mould assembly is re-immersed in the suspension, and the liquid medium is again filtered off; the method can be used for the manufacture of slabs and tubes fitted with embedded electrical resistance heating wires, for heating furnace walls or maintaining the temperature of metal baths by immersion. <IMAGE>
