Abstract
201,738. McKellar, D. July 13, 1922. Beetling.-The beetle or beetles 1 of a fabricbeetling machine are bored axially and are telescopically fitted to stationary spindles 2 depending from an overhead beam 3. Each spindle may have a flat 4 for contact by a wear piece 5 fitted to the beetle, or the beetle may be formed with sockets fitted with rollers moving in longitudinal races in the spindle to prevent rotation of the beetle. In some cases, the beetle is free to rotate on the spindle. A block 9 of wood is fitted to the beetle and the head mav have convex operative faces 10. The beetle may be made entirely of cast iron or steel, or malleable cast iron or steel, or it may have a bored metallic stem fitted with a wooden head.
