Abstract

A liquid heating system, such as a domestic hot water system, comprises an accumulator 10 having an inlet 12 and an outlet 21 for heated primary liquid, a heat exchanger disposed within the accumulator and having an inlet and an outlet for a secondary liquid to be heated, there being provided wall means 16, 18, 20 defining a plurality of passageways through which the primary liquid passes as it travels from the inlet 12 to the outlet 21 of the accumulator in contact with said heat exchanger, and a main air vent 15 which is open to the atmosphere and which is in communication with the interior of the accumulator, said wall means defining said passageways being provided with one or more air bleed holes 24, 25 placing each of said passageways into communication with said main air vent 15, or into communication with a part of the system which is in turn in communication with said main air vent, whereby air tending to collect in said passageways is automatically vented to atmosphere by passing through one or more of said bleed holes to said main air vent. <IMAGE>
