Abstract

A supply circuit for a discharge lamp comprises a transistor bridge converter T1-T4 feeding the lamp L with alternating current under the control of a control circuit G, this converter being fed via a chopper transistor T5 from a direct current power supply. The brightness of the lamp is controlled by controlling the ratio of the conducting to non-conducting periods of the chopper transistor by adjustment of a reference signal Io in a regulating circuit A1A2R6 for the chopper. A discharge lamp incorporating such a supply circuit in its base is described. <IMAGE>
