Abstract

A light-weight rotary motion flexible shaft 10 is provided comprising closely coiled thermoplastic monofilament strands 22, 24, etc., in lieu of conventional metallic wires, wound about a core 14, to form successive layers of coiled strands having alternating right and left handed directions of winding. The shaft 10 may be housed within a flexible stationary sheath 26, also composed of a plastics material, with a clearance space 28. <IMAGE>
