Abstract

201,505. Wootton, G. A. H. April 19, 1923. Stands.-A charging stand for storage batteries is provided with spring - pressed pivoted arms 2 which engage the battery terminals 3. When any battery is removed the arms 2 are pulled downwards by their springs 10 into engagement with contacts 9 which are connected together by a wire. The contacts 9 are shaped as shown in Fig. 1 to cause a rubbing action with the arms 2 whereby they are kept clean. The batteries rest on a shelf 13 which is slightly sloped to cause the batteries to tilt slightly from the vertical. The batteries can thus be rocked to keep the contacts between their terminals and the arms 2 clean. Trays 14 are suspended beneath the batteries to catch liquid. The springs 10 may be connected directly to the arms 2 or the latter may be formed as bell-crank levers the springs being arranged horizontally and connected to the depending portions of the levers.
