Abstract

Support apparatus, for assisting infirm persons when bathing, comprising a support frame 41 and 42 having pads 45 and 46 to locate the apparatus in a bath; and a seat and backrest assembly 12 having a frame 22, which supports a seat 20 and a backrest 21 or 25, and is connected by brackets 51 and rollers to channel members 44 mounted in parallel on the support frame 42. A pneumatic bag or bellows 13 is carried by the support frame 41 to support the assembly 12 so that the latter can be raised and lowered by inflation and deflation of the bellows etc, the attitude of the assembly 12 being controlled by the channel members 44 which serve as guide means for the assembly 12. Optional side panels 23, a headrest 47 and a foot panel 50 may be provided. The apparatus may be foldable for storage. <IMAGE>
