Abstract

201,371. Shipley, A. H., and Berry, A. B. June 30, 1922. Drilling brush stocks.-A stop for limiting the depth of hole in a brush drilling and filling machine is adapted to adjust itself automatically to the angle at which the stock is presented to the tool, so that the depth of hole drilled will be constant. The stop consists of two fingers 13 carried by bolts 12 supported between pairs of racks 8 which are connected by loose pinions 10, so that if one finger meets an inclined surface before the other it will be retracted, rotate the pinions, and advance the other finger to meet the surface. The racks and pinions are carried in slides 7 secured to a ring 1 which is screwed on the neck 2 of the headstock for .adjusting the depth of hole drilled, locking being effected by a bolt 4. The finger may be rotated about the bolts 12 to suit drills of different diameters, and are locked by nuts 15.
