Abstract
In a multiplexed liquid crystal 22 or other electro-optical display cell, connections between portions 19a, 10a of electrode leads 19, 10 lying outside recessed glass bit seal 6 are made by metallized film 23 over and between the edges of substrates 4,5 to allow multiplexing electrodes on rear substrate 5 to be energized via contacts elsewhere on the front substrate 4. The metallization may be by sputtering or evaporation of Ti, followed by Pt or Pd, followed by Au. <IMAGE>
