Abstract

201,276. Hecht, N. F. S. May 9, 1922. Thermionic generators; keying systems. -Relates to wireless telegraphy or telephony systems wherein the emission from a power valve 1 is controlled by means of an auxiliary valve inserted in series with one of the hightension supply mains. According to the invention, the control valve 4 is inserted in the positive high - tension main and signalling is effected by means of a key 6, which connects the grid of the control valve 4 either to the negative main 10 or to the positive main 5. In the former case the control valve is practically non-conductive and very little energy passes to the power valve 1 and thence to the oscillatory circuit 2, 3. In the latter case, the valve 4 passes the full high-supply to the power valve which oscillates accordingly. Or the key may vary the value of a high resistance inserted between the grid and plate of the control valve. For telephony transmission the key 6 is replaced by the secondary of a microphone transformer.
