Abstract

A road plane comprising a frame (1) with attachment mountings for pivotal attachment to the articulated boom (B) of a self-powered machine or vehicle such as a JCB excavator. A cutter drum (14) with a horizontal rotational axis is mounted in the frame (1) and driven by a hydraulic motor (23) through a belt drive (17), the motor (23) being coupled to a hydraulic power take-off of the vehicle. The plane is self-supporting on a single rear side wheel (12) and front wheels (13), the latter being independently adjustable to vary the depth of cut. In use the plane is traversed over the ground by articulatory/pivotal movement of the boom (B). <IMAGE>
