Abstract
A windscreen for motor vehicles or the like comprises a normally cooled silicate glass outer pane 10 which is 2-5 mm thick, connected via a plastics intermediate layer 12 to a chemically toughened silicate glass inner pane 14 less than 1.5 mm thick, and wherein the toughening of the inner pane 14 is locally varied in the micron region in order to obtain an average bending stress of at most 160 N/mm<2> (to DIN 52303) or 300 N/mm<2> (by the double-ring method). The inner pane 14 is preferably made of Fourcault glass. <IMAGE>
