Abstract

In the neutralisation of acidic and alkaline waste by feeding a volume of acidic liquid to a tank 1 and then a volume of alkaline liquid to the tank, an air blower 8 for mixing of the two liquids is operated when the liquid in the tank reaches a predetermined level preferably defined by a probe B and a discharge valve 12 is opened allowing the mixed liquid to pass to a dolomitic lime bed 13 when the liquid level reaches a second predetermined level preferably defined by a probe A. Feed of acidic liquid is stopped and feed of alkaline liquid is started when during filling the liquid level reaches probe B. <IMAGE>
