Abstract
A drive arrangement comprises a slip-ring rotor motor 1 having variable rotor resistance 2 and control means 4, 6, C4, C5, C6 arranged to vary said rotor resistance 2, during starting of the motor 1, in dependence upon the value of the rotor current. Each time the current falls below a predetermined value, a relay (12) in controller 4, Fig. 2 (not shown) changes over its contacts (13) to operate a contactor C4, C5, C6 and so progress to the next starting stage. <IMAGE>
