Abstract
The invention relates to a diaphragm pump operable by the combustion gases of an internal combustion engine. The pulsating gases are supplied to an actuation chamber E with a vent F to atmosphere, thereby gases causing reciprocation of the diaphragm B and pumping of e.g. liquid fuel through a pumping chamber H having inlet and outlet valves 1, 0. Without the actuation chamber being vented to atmosphere, the liquid fuel is necessarily heated to too great a temperature and also the products of combustion cannot escape. The latter defect will lead in time to the pump ceasing to function. <IMAGE>
