Abstract

Means for dressing a work piece in a lathe having a rotary driven shaft (24) includes a work holder assembly (10) adapted to hold a drum or disc (21) in position for dressing a cylindrical face or a circular end face. The work holder assembly includes adapter members (12, 16) preferably formed with frusto-conical faces for engaging a drum therebetween or for engaging in a central hole of a disc. A rigid circular plate (36) has spaced threaded adjustable bolts (40) bearing on the disc or an end wall of of the drum. Spacer members (44a,b,c,d) bear against the circular plate via a bolt (43) received in an end on the rotary driven shaft (24) to retain the adapter members, plate, and spacer members in axial alignment on the shaft. The rigid plate and adjustment bolts hold the work piece in axial alignment with the shaft, and correct distortion in the disc or end wall of the drum. They also prevent vibration of the work piece during dressing. <IMAGE>
