Abstract
809,246. Drill-jigs. AVIAMAC Ltd., and RANCE, J. A. July 18, 1955 [July 22, 1954], No. 21419/54. Class 83 (3). A device for adjusting a part 1 relatively to a base 6 comprises an element 3 carrying the part I eccentrically, and rotatable in an eccentric bore in an element 5 which is rotatable in the base 6. As applied to drilling jigs which may be held against the work by permanent magnets or an electromagnet in which the windings 28 are contained within the base 6, the guide-bush 1 for the drill is received in the bore of the eccentric 3, which is located in the jig by a screwthreaded ring 13. The inner and outer surfaces of the outer eccentric 5 are of conical form to enable locking of the eccentrics by pressure of a screw-threaded ring 15 against the eccentric 5. The eccentrics are adjusted by upstanding lugs 25, 18 on rings 24, 17 secured to the eccentrics, and the clamping-ring 15 is turned by a ring 26 which, upon releasing the clamping-pressure on eccentric 5, engages the lug 25, thus raising and freeing the eccentrics. The latter and rings 13, 15 are made of non-magnetic material, and rings 24, 26 are force-fits on the eccentric 3 and ring 15 respectively. Eccentric 5 is split at one point to facilitate adjustment, and provided with pins 22 on which ring 17 is located and clamped by a screw 19. Optical apparatus for observing work.-During centring of the axis of the bore of eccentric 3 on a point on the work, the bush is replaced in the bore by a sighting-device, Fig. 11, having crossed-lines viewed through a lens 9 illuminated by a lamp 11.
