Abstract

A gas heater (10) has an outer cylinder (11) and an inner cylinder (14) defining a flow path from an inlet (12) at one end of the heater between the two cylinders and back along the inner cylinder to an outlet (16) at the same end of the heater as the inlet (12). An electric current is passed axially along the inner cylinder to heat the cylinder, and hence to heat gas flowing through the heater. <IMAGE>
