Abstract
A niobium or tantalum stabilized titanium and aluminum free, chromium-bearing, water-atomised metal powder is used to fabricate components which are stabilized against weld decay and are low in oxide content. A typical powder consists of by weight % <IMAGE> and components may be made by compacting and subsequently sintering. In particular, steel strip may be made by passing the powder through the nip of a compaction roll and sintering the thus-formed green strip in a reducing atmosphere.
