Abstract
In a method of spectrophotometric analysis e.g. using radiation in the IR region, radiation is passed to the sample alternately through each of a pair of filters one passing radiation at at least one measuring wavelength and one passing radiation of at least two reference wavelengths, and the radiation absorbed or reflected by the sample is sensed with each filter in the radiation path. The detector outputs are combined in a differential amplifier. For moisture content the measurement wavelength used is 1.4 mu and the two reference wavelengths 1.2 and 1.6 mu . More than one pair of filters may be used. Numerous examples of substances that can be detected are given. <IMAGE>
