Abstract
1416182 Photometric analyzers IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 16 Feb 1973 [28 Feb 1972] 9036/72 Heading G1A In an apparatus for photometric analysis of a sample, radiation from a source S is passed along two paths, one containing a sample cell C and the other opionally containing a compensation cell R; each of the two paths contains a beam splitter B, B' to create four subsidiary paths terminating in filters F 1 -F 4 and photo-detectors D 1 -D 4 . Filters F 1 and F3 are identical, and are chosen to pass only a wavelength which is absorbed by the sample under test. The filters F 2 and F 4 are chosen to pass only wavelengths not absorbed by the sample. If the outputs of detectors D 1 -D 4 are respectively X 1 - X 4 it is found that the sample concentration may be derived from the expression A log 10 X 2 .X 3 /X 1 .X 4 + B where A and B are constants. The arrangement of detectors is such that effects due to variations in source brightness or dirt on the cells R and C, cancel out. Suitable wavelengths for chlorine measurement are given.
