Abstract

A circuit for charging an accumulator provides an initially constant high charging current. During charging and over-charging water is electrolysed and evolved in a gaseous form. To avoid this the circuit includes two resistors R2, R3 which determine the accumulator voltage at which the high charging current starts decreasing to a previously set minimum value. In one embodiment, the circuit includes a voltage regulator (I.C. 1) comprising a reference voltage source (Vref), a difference amplifier and a current limiting transistor (T3), the emitter of which is connected to the junction of resistors R1, R3 and the inverting input of a comparator (I.C.2). <IMAGE>
