Abstract
Electrical cable re-energising apparatus for use in fault finding is inserted in the circuit of a faulty cable in place of a blown protective fuse. The apparatus turns a controlled semiconductor switching arrangement on and off at zero cross-over points of the cable input voltage and allows a fault current to flow for 1 to 5 complete cycles, during which known test operations are performed. The switching arrangement comprises inverse parallel connected thyristors.
