Abstract

A pump suitable for pumping mineral slurries in volume over long pipe runs comprises a cylindrical housing 24 connected between an inlet elbow 14 and an outlet elbow 16. A drive shaft 34 extends through the housing and out through both elbows, for attachment of an electric motor to one or each end. The shaft is journalled in bearings 32 attached to the outsides of the elbows and preferably in an intermediate water-lubricated bearing between low and high pressure rotor sections on the shaft. <IMAGE>
