Abstract

1364012 Screw pumps ROTARY HOES Ltd 10 Jan 1973 [15 Jan 1972] 1993/72 Heading F1C A pump for slurry on other liquids comprises a screw member rotatable within a cylindrical casing and driven through transmission means including change. speed means. The transmission means comprises a universal joint 55 for connection to a tractor power take-off, a friction clutch 56, bevel gears 52, 51 and gear-wheels 45, 44, the gear-wheels being held on to their respective shafts by a gear-box lid 47. After removal of the lid 47, the gear-wheels 44, 45 can be exchanged with one another or with a different pair of gear-wheels in order to change the transmission ratio. The discharge end of the pump screw 12 terminates in a cone 32 which helps to direct the fluid to an outlet pipe extending tangentially from the upper end of the pump casing 10 and also prevents straw and other strands being wrapped around the shaft 11. The outlet pipe leads via a Y-shaped junction and a selector valve to a discharge pipe and a return pipe. The lower bearings 13 are carried by a bracket 14 and lubricated by lubricant conveyed via ducts 29, 28, 30, 34, 35, 42 from a reservoir. Plates for guiding the inlet flow of fluid may be fitted around the lower end of the screw 12.
