Abstract

In vehicle spray-inhibiting means for a screen 15 is mounted rearwardly of and adjacent to a vehicle tyre so that in wet conditions the screen will intercept spray and water thrown rearwardly by the tyre, additional means (24) collect such water intercepted by the screen, and means (25) discharge the collected water from the vehicle at such a velocity relative to the vehicle velocity that water deposited by the discharging means (25) on to the road surface will have no or only a low velocity in a horizontal direction relative to the road surface itself. The discharging means include pumps, compressors or "air- ram" effects. The screen has elongate passages formed between spaced parallel baffles. <IMAGE>
