Abstract
PURPOSE: To accomplish a continuous and efficient breaking of ice by means of ice breaking arms each comprising a breaking edge and a pressure receiving section for supporting an ice block mounted radially on a wheel which is provided rotatively at the bow centered on the horizontal shaft.
CONSTITUTION: A wheel 12 is provided rotatively at the bow S centered on a horizontal shaft 11a and arms 13 for breaking ice is mounted radially thereon. An ice breaking edge 13a is provided at the front thereof in the rotating direction in such a manner as to work on an ice block H from the above to brake it grasping the rim thereof between adjacent arms and a pressure receiving section 13b is provided at the rear in the rotating direction of the arm to support the rim of the ice block H. This enables a continuous and efficient ice breaking work.
