Abstract

A water distillation apparatus comprises a feed tank 1, an evaporator vessel 13, a distillate-receiving vessel 10, a vacuum pump 9 connected to vessel 10 through valve 12, a valve 6 through which vessel 10 may be vented to the atmosphere, a heat exchanger 47 in tank 1 in which vapour from vessel 13 is condensed, and a heat exchanger 20 in vessel 13. The heat exchange fluid in heat exchanger 20 may be heated by solar radiation in panels 24. <IMAGE>
