Abstract

Continuous treatment of a cloth material under conditions of high pressure, high temperature and high humidity is performed in the first part of a steamer 1 comprising a steam treatment device 4 through which cloth material 16 passes whilst being subjected to tension. A second part of the steamer 1 comprises a boiling treatment device 7 through which the cloth material 16 passes in a relaxed, substantially tensionless state. Water is recirculated by pump 14 through the tanks 81, 82, and 83 of the device 7 in the same direction as the material movement so that the water flow assists the movement of the material. After boiling the material is cooled before leaving the steamer body through a seal mechanism 3. <IMAGE>
