Abstract
A device is provided for automatically controlling the damper in a unit for evacuation of gases and other particles, which may arise at a welding workplace. A control means is provided which is actuated by a scanning means, which in response to whether or not welding is going on causes the control means to open and, respectively, close the damper. Hereby the unnecessary evacuation of heated air from a workroom is avoided and thereby the heating costs for said room are reduced. As illustrated the gases are exhausted through a hose 4. The scanning means may be a photoelectric cell (18), Figure 6 (not shown), in a pipe 19. The cell scans the existence and absence of an electric welding arc. Alternatively, the scanning means may be a device capable of scanning the existence and absence of welding current in the welding cable and accordingly controlling a magnet (14), Figure 7 not shown, which controls the damper (6). <IMAGE>
