Abstract
The LaB6-emitter body 1 of an electron emissive cathode is connected to a carrier body 3 eg. a heater wire made of Ta, by means of a heat conducting auxiliary body 2 made of a third material. Particularly suitable as materials for the auxiliary body 2 are sintered materials of the class comprising carbides, nitrides and borides, since these materials do not adversely react with the LaB6 and provide good heat transfer and mechanical stability. The emitter body 1 may be rod- shaped and formed of monocrystalline or polycrystalline LaB6. <IMAGE>
