Abstract
The piston (9) of a shock absorber is rigidly attached to piston rod (8) and moves in a fluid-filled working cylinder (1) which is connected over a number of outlet openings (32 to 37) to a chamber to take up and recycle the fluid. The outlet openings are arranged in a predetermined pattern along the movement path of the piston in the wall of the working cylinder. In the chamber is an adjustable slide arrangement (12, 13, 42, 44) movable longitudinally within the chamber, so that openings (32' to 37') and flow return channel (38, 39), (these openings) may be brought into a certain communicating relationship with the outlet openings in the working cylinder, according to which the flow of fluid out of the working cylinder caused by the working piston movement and therewith the "hardness" of the shock absorber is adjustable. A retractile spring (21) in the working cylinder pushes the working piston back into its starting position. <IMAGE>
